My Micali Girl...

The pictures of Micali riding her horse,Denali, with her baby ponies set up next to her and watching Spirit just crack me up. She did that all by herself.

I have been wanting to get a post written of all the funny things Micali has beening saying and doing. I need to make a list of them because it seems like everytime I come down to the computer I forget. But I will do my best.
--"You so brave Eli, good job!" (as she is pouring cups of water over his head in the bathtub
--"Get off my back, get off my back, yeah" (from the horse movie, Spirit, the horse is trying to be broke and he bucks off person after person and the song is "saying get off of my back" in the background.)
--I help you Eli (grabs on to his feet and pulls him across the floor)
--Humpy Dumpy sat wall, fall down, uh-oh, horsies, broken (her version while reading her Humpty Dumpty book)
--I recently realized she knows the song Families can be together forever (all the words) she got so excited when I started singing it
--Everything in her room has to be exactly where she wants it to be before she can relax and fall asleep. This used to be a stall tactic but now we clean her room before it is time to get ready for bed and she is still very particular about where she puts things. Once she has found a place for something it must go back in that spot
--Today at lunch she said,"My name Cali--you Mommy!"
--She often comes up to me during the day and says "I snuggle" which means mom stop what ever you are doing and hold me for a minute
--She is TOTALLY a Daddy's girl. All day long I hear, "where daddy?" "daddy work?" "daddy church?" "where daddy?" If he pretends like he is sleeping she will instantly come and snuggle next to him. She hasn't yet figured it out that he only does that when he wants her to come and she won't. So when he is trying to get her ready for bed and she decides to hide under the table in hopes of getting chased by daddy, he lays on the floor and closes his eyes and she is in his arms in seconds.
--Today her Daddy called on the phone to talk to her because, he had to be at school late for parent teacher conference and wouldn't see her before she went to bed. He told her to be gentle with her brother so she went over to him and rubbed his head softly and said "I be gentle EEjah, its okay"
--When she hears EEjah crying or does something to make him cry she comes running to me and tells me he needs me NOW.
--This morning she put her clothes on all by herself and told daddy to "pound it" after she said "good job Cali"

Well that is all I have time for. Enjoy!

Birthday Cake

I finally got Eli's cake made, a candle, a husband home, and a healthy Eli so lastnight we sang Happy Birthday to Eli and let him have fun playing in his birthday cake. He really got into it and, I was very satisfied to see him enjoying it so much. Here are the results so you can enjoy it too!

Eli's Got MOVES!

Eli goes everywhere in our house with this army/inch worm crawl. He is getting faster too. He is funny because he gets up on all fours and rocks back and forth all the time but when he really wants to go somewhere this is how he does it.

I brought Eli in from the car today and went to get the groceries. He evidently wanted to play in the snow like Micali and ended up getting out the door just to touch it a bit. The memory space ran out as soon as I turned on the camera but you can see him for a second.

Pictures on Eli's Birthday day!

I took these pictures of Eli on his birthday. I was going to wait and post pictures of him and his cake, and presents but we haven't got around to doing that just yet because the poor guy got sick. He is feeling better now and finally sleeping at night so hopefully we will be able to have his cake tomorrow. Thankfully they had it one at a time but, because of that it lasted two weeks straight. We are praying that we can enjoy our healthy status once again. We want no more sickies!!

Lover of all things FRUIT!

Micali was sick for about a week straight. She had a fever and just laid on the couch for a few days. I couldn't get her to eat much of anything. She just drank a lot of juice and water. Well, finally when she started feeling better I wanted her to have some healthy things to eat. I went the store and bought her lots of yummy fruit. She got her appetite back quickly. These pictures show the watermelon rinds that Micali went through for breakfast, and lunch. In between that she also downed a pint of blueberries and a couple bananas. I think her all time favorite food so far is WATERMELON. She would take that over any other treat that was offered to her. She finished the watermelon mostly by herself in just one day!

Dearest Little Lijah!

Hey Little Man,
You turned One today. Wow! That year went so fast. You have had a lot of exciting things happen in just one year.
--You have eight teeth
--You weigh 24lbs
--You love taking baths and are quite the little fish. The water doesn't bother you one bit even when sister thinks she needs to dump it on you.
--You have quite the little army crawl going on right now. You hold your hands together in front of you and then scoot with your feet.
--You love to eat mostly anything we put in front of you. But especially popcorn, pretzels, and bananas.
--You love saying "dada" and have even started saying it on cue as soon as he walks in the door from work.
--You have a sister who adores you and is so excited for you to be awake and loves watching you learn new things. She is trying to teach you sign language and likes getting you your sippy cup and bringing you toys to play with. She will get mad at you if you touch the wrong toys and has learned very well to trade you one of your toys and then take hers back.
--You have a mother who has absolutely enjoyed every minute of having you in our home. Daddy says I am a "softy" but really you have been so easy going there isn't anything I need to be tough on you for. I don't mind you throwing all your food on the floor, or rolling across the floor when I am trying to change your diaper.
--You have a father who loves that you say dada and not mama even though he knows dada is easier; who is excited to have another little helper soon with the home remodeling projects; thinks your chubbiness is flattering (you get it from your uncles on his side), and loves your little smile every time anyone looks at you or says anything to you.
--You have many nicknames, something your sister never had---we like to call you, "Eli, Lijah, Little Man, Brother, EEEjah(micali's).
--You happen to be the cutest baby boy there has ever been. Lucky Me!

WE LOVE OUR LITTLE MAN!

A Break from Cabin Fever

After being too cold to go out side for many many days we decided to take advantage of some nice weather while we had it. Something about fresh air just does a body good.
The warm weather is nice but it has also made a big mess of everything. Our driveway and roads in the neighborhood are just sheets of ice. The picture of Luke's boot in the middle shows how we manage to take a walk on them. Ice cleats--they work well and have saved us from many falls since we have lived here.

More Pics of our Floor

Here you go mom! I finally have the floor mopped and the table cleaned off at the same time. So, I took more pictures of our tiling job. Now you can see what the big tiles look like on the whole floor. The grout looks a little lighter in the pictures than it actually is.

Our latest project.

Friday night we prepped the floor for tile, picked up the tile saw, and visited Home Depot to get the last necessary tools for the project. We felt like we had accomplished a lot and the following day would be a success. Somehow in all of that, before we went to bed we decided we could mix a little of the mortar to lay a tile or two to see how easy it was. (I think we were talking about it would be much easier to experiment with this while the kids were asleep----shortly after starting they were both awake) Neither of us have done tile work on our own but both of us had watched others do it and helped a little in the process. Well we put some water in a bucket----WAY TOO MUCH water actually. I began pouring the mortar while Luke diligently mixed it. After dumping the first batch in the consistancy was like pancake batter--not good. We continued adding and mixing until we had nearly 5 gallons of mortar and Luke had mortar up to his elbows. Thankfully we are both easy going people and laughed it off knowing that since it was already 10:30 we had a LONG night ahead of us. Here are some pictures of the first night. We finished the night(MORNING) with 8--- 24 inch tiles down at 2:15. Luckily the next day a friend came over and helped Luke for awhile while I resumed my motherly duties. Luke worked hard ALL day long and we finally finished about 11 on Saturday night. What a man I married!!! Lastnight he grouted it while I mopped up behind him. Tonight the refrigerator and oven were moved out of the living room. How exciting!!
