Here are some pictures for comparison. Eli and Abigail both taking baths at 7 weeks old. Unfortunately I don’t have one of Micali to add to the comparison. Abigail is just over 10 and Eli was over 13 lbs.
Elijah has totally been cracking me up lately. He has started doing so many “boy” things. He is mastering sound effects, loves being outside, and loves playing with cars and trucks. He isn’t letting his sister play sissy stuff with him anymore. He used to carry around little babies and be so sweet, and I thought well okay he has a big sister what can I expect. I am not sure where he figures it out but apparently he is just wired to know what boys are suppose to do.
His sounds effects for the whale and dolphin are so funny. He growls for them and then says a loud “SPASH” as he dives them into the water.
His bed if also taking on a new look these days. He sometimes takes full advantage of no longer being in a crib and will play a little before he falls asleep. Here is his bed after naps today:
Where does he fit?? I am not quite sure!
He is so fun and lovable. He doesn’t let his daddy leave in the morning without giving him a kiss. If he sees him go to get his shoes on before he has got a kiss he will say “kiss, kiss, kiss” over and over until he gets a kiss and a hug from him. At night before he goes to bed he has to make sure he has had a kiss and hug from everyone even Abigail.
Micali is always up for holding Abigail. This morning she was trying to burp her and kept singing to her, letting her know that everything would be alright. She likes to involve Abigail in all her conversations. “Abigail did you have a nice bath? You like the water? It feels nice? Yeah? oohhh sweet baby!” She will go to her to seek approval too---“Abigail do you like my hair? yeah? You think it looks nice?”
Micali and I both are always trying to get Abigail to smile. We are anxious for that first “real” one that comes on spontaneously when we start talking to her.
Micali saw a picture like the one below of dancers in the newspaper and asked what it was. I told her they were people that were going to dance at Daddy’s school. Right away she was sure she wanted to go. We decided to be brave and make it a night out as a whole family.
We first went out to eat. The kids did great. Abigail was kind enough to sleep through that part. I got to eat a wonderful cheeseburger I had waited all winter for. (A lot of the restaurants here are closed for the winter because there just isn’t enough business.)
The dancers were awesome. They were from Southern Utah University and are currently collegiate champions after going to a contest of over 50 schools. Micali and Eli were totally into it. Eli loved all the clapping.
Our first outing as a family with Abigail was a success. The family behind us even asked if we had drugged the kids before we came because they sat so nicely!
Last Friday Micali was able to go to prom with her Daddy. The Junior class here does a choreographed dance and then there is a dance with them and their mom or dad for the promenade. Micali was very excited for alone time with her daddy and also couldn’t wait to see all the pretty dresses.
Today Abigail turns 6 weeks old. We have enjoyed everyday we have had with her. She is such a sweet little girl. She is weighing in at 10.2 lbs (on the home scale with me holding her). She is still sleeping more in my bed with me than anywhere else. This will soon change as we help her adjust to life in her own crib! She only likes the swing for short amounts of time. Her preferred place is snuggled in somebody's arms. Micali has been a great help and doesn’t mind holding her while I get things done around the house.
Elijah at just over two is weighing in at 29.6 lbs. He is quite active and couldn’t be happier that SPRING is on its way. We can hardly keep him inside. Even if he can’t go outside right away he likes to wear his shoes and jacket in hopes of making a speedy get away if the door is open. We moved him to a toddler bed last week and surprisingly it was an easy adjustment. The first night he realized his freedom and came out roaming the house but since then has decided sleep is better then a dark lonely house. He has started talking a lot more and putting words together. My latest favorites are “hold her?” and “baby Abby”. He is a great big brother most of the time. On occasion he will rock her chair a little too rough or push her swing a little to fast but overall tries to be sweet and gentle with her.
Micali at 3 and a half has finally broken 30 lbs. This morning she weighed 30.4 lbs. She loves singing and dancing. She loves making up little songs and sings to Abigail or her stuffed animals. She has adjusted well to being a big sister x2 and helping out. She is LOVING her big twin bed and always tells me it is so comfortable.
Eli so happy to be holding Abigail. AND loving my snow boots.
Snuggling in Mommy and Daddy’s bed on Saturday morning.
Micali dressed like a princess, we took these after church today. She really had to have Just Dog with her. I would have liked to have her wear white shoes but these are better than slippers or boots!
This has been what my countertop often looked like during the day. Either clean dishes on one side or dirty dishes on the other. For 9 months now we have washed dishes by hand. It takes a lot of time, which is something I don’t have a lot of—especially all at once. I would start washing dishes and then somebody would need me so, I would get back and have a sink of cold water and still dirty dishes.
Well, Friday our dryer broke. So I started looking on Craigslist to see if anyone nearby was selling one. I didn’t find a dryer but I did see this listing for a portable dishwasher. A full size dishwasher that just connects to the kitchen sink! GENIUS! So, Luke and I got a babysitter on Saturday and went to check this thing out. It was very nice looking just as advertised. So far it is working like a charm and I have had clear countertops! I love it.
We had a great Spring Break and were excited to have Daddy for the whole week. The kids loved all of the playtime and wrestling from him. Here are a some pictures of our adventures.
I was in the back room and heard Micali saying, “help, help me” in a quiet little voice. I walked into her bedroom and then back out to find where she could be.
Then she started talking again and I realized she really was in her room. She had closed herself in Abigail’s little floor mat. She looked so cute peaking out like a little clam.
Micali and I had a special date to the beauty salon to get our haircut. Micali was so excited but kind of got scared once we got there. She had me go first and then decided it didn’t seem so bad.
After we got home from our special date we loaded up and headed back down to Moab to enjoy some more nice weather. We found a new musical park and then went back to the park from last week.
Friday and Saturday the weather kind of changed here a bit and got cold and snowy, but I forgot that when I suggested to Micali to ask Daddy if he would build a fire for her to roast marshmallows on. Being the good Daddy he is, he wasn’t about to break his little girl’s heart so he ventured out there and enjoyed a few marshmallows with them.
